I help emerging student broadcast journalists and sportscasters succeed

If you are looking for someone to transform your students' dreams and aspirations and help them to penetrate the industries of broadcast journalism, sportscasting, or even acting, Tony Hernandez is the answer for your next event.

It is my pleasure to provide insight for those wishing to start careers in the fields of Broadcast Journalism, Sportscasting, and/or for beginning Actors.

How does one actually get started, especially in knowing there is no prescribed method for doing so in those industries?  What should one expect in getting started and what are the strategies and pitfalls in attempting to succeed?  Once successful, how does one maintain success, and most importantly, how does one prepare for their “next, best opportunity?”  My mission is to reveal eye opening and inspiring answers to these questions.

So, You Want To Get Paid To Watch Games?

Do you absolutely love sports, know every stat of every player, and feel sometimes as though you can do a better job running a team than the actual manager or coach does? Share your knowledge and passion by sitting in front of the camera or microphone describing events on the field, or court, or track, or anywhere else a sporting event may be taking place, and actually get paid to do so?

Tony did it for thirty-six years, both in major markets and tiny ones, and he is anxious to teach you how to get started and how to succeed.

Your Passion Is Performing

Actors achieve a high through being on stage or on film, which many non-actors rarely experience. One example of what this type of energy can bring to a performer is a quote from Sir Ian McKellen, a world renown Shakespearian actor. He said, "When you're on stage, you're in the moment. It's live. It's dangerous. That's what makes it exciting." Do you want to become intimately acquainted with this feeling?

Tony, taught by David Legrant, considered to be a legendary acting teacher by the likes of stars, Tobey Maguire, Bernadette Peters, Steve Martin and Walton Coggins, to name a few, would like to introduce you to the marvelous journey of acting.

“I first met Tony when he hosted a Triathlon event for me that I produced for ESPN. His talent and professionalism quickly became apparent to me as I watched him cover long distance running, swimming and cycling all in one race. I had the pleasure of watching him for twenty-six years working in the Los Angeles market as a first rate T.V. News Sports Anchor, and Reporter. He also did play-by-play on L.A. Dodgers' and Angels' telecasts, not to mention his sterling coverage of Rams' and Raiders' football, Lakers' and Clippers' basketball, and Kings' hockey. He was honored with a Los Angeles Area Emmy award for his live coverage of a Los Angeles Marathon. If you have students, or know anyone who wants to learn the business of sportscasting, Tony is your "go-to" man!”

“Tony Hernandez has a wealth of experience in a number of disciplines. Well before I met him, I enjoyed his knowledgeable, dynamic and entertaining sports reporting on television in Los Angeles. Years later I directed him in a number of plays and found him to be as skilled and committed to the craft as many of the professional actors I worked with during my fifty years in theater, television and film. He is wonderfully at ease in front of an audience, personable, articulate, has a terrific sense of humor. He’s the real deal.” David Ackroyd, Star on Broadway as well as in Television and Film. Co-Founder of Alpine Theatre Project in Whitefish, Montana.

“Tony's experience in the Broadcast Journalism world made it a natural slide into the acting world. Knowing how to have the professional attitude to work with agents, directors and actors, and to maneuver the plethora of scenarios presented is a critical part of the ‘business’ of acting, and Tony made it a seamless transition. He is an engaging speaker with years of experience who will be sure to provide an insightful and entertaining presentation."
